Bearing Isolator Prevents Water Contamination of Lubricant
Lubrication reliability is the main goal of bearing protection products. In this video, water is continuously sprayed into a stuffing box on an operating pump. While this is typically not how water will enter a stuffing box, the experiment was conducted to test a newly installed bearing isolator.
After this stuffing box flooding, the lubricant was analyzed. No water contamination was discovered in the lubricant. This extreme experiment proved the effectiveness of the bearing isolator, confirming that it could help decrease oil changes.
