New Seal Contains Sugar in a Rotary Air Lock
In a candy factory making peanut butter, rotary air locks are used as feeders to move dextrose from sugar silos to mixers making the peanut butter. The existing lip seals leaked after a few weeks of operation. The sugar in the rotary air lock leaked. Sugar was EVERYWHERE!
A new air seal replaced the lip seals in a pilot application. The pilot air seals (two per air lock) have operated more than 12 months leak-free. The facility plans to replace all the seals on their air locks (100 at this facility).
